Mark Coppers, LPC, MAMFT
Licensed Professional Counselor and Master of Marriage and Family Therapy in Mesa and Telehealth, AZ

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona, with a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I was born and raised in Long Beach, California, spending most of my free time on the beach or in the water surfing, truly my ‘happy place’. I eventually moved to Utah, where I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Utah and lived in and near Salt Lake City, Utah, for nearly 25 years. I was eventually able to escape the cold and move to the amazingly diverse, beautiful, and WARM state of Arizona, where I have lived and worked as a therapist since 2013. Prior to becoming a therapist, I had a 14-year work history in law enforcement and fraud investigations.
Do you experience sleep disturbance, nightmares, vivid memories or “flashbacks,” difficulty concentrating, feeling emotionally disconnected from others, feeling numb and losing interest in things that you used to care about, feeling constantly “on guard,” feeling irritable and having angry outbursts, feeling like you are easily startled, or maybe you easily upset by things that remind you of what happened? If some or all of this sounds like what you’re experiencing, I recommend you seek help. Many feel that asking for help can be seen as a sign of weakness and a demonstration that we “can’t handle it.” However, it’s been said that the greatest measure of courage is one’s willingness to be emotionally vulnerable with others. Asking for help could be the most courageous thing you’ve ever done.
As a therapist, I utilize a trauma-focused therapeutic approach and am trained in various approaches to trauma, including EMDR Therapy, a world recognized treatment protocol for trauma and PTSD. I specialize in working with clients who have experienced life trauma and its effects, including sexual trauma. I have a special place in my heart for current and former military personnel, law enforcement, correctional officers, fire fighters, EMT’s, and others who have been impacted by traumatic experiences in their service to our communities. I have a background that allows me to have insights into the challenging and often traumatic experiences that many of you may have experienced.
If you have experienced difficult and highly emotional life experiences, you do not need to be forever stuck in the aftermath of those experiences. Trauma is something from which we can all heal, and I would love to assist you in that healing. If you feel you need help managing to get through some of those difficult emotional experiences, I invite you to give me a call for a free and confidential 15-minute phone consultation.
